(JW Insights) Jun 21 -- CMOS image sensors (CIS) supplier CISTA (芯视达) achieved explosive growth in shipments in 2022 against the market downturn due to its right understanding of market trends in the past two years, targeted improvement of product layout and strong supply chain management, said the company's vice president of sales Dong Xiao.
Dong introduced CISTA's products at China International Exhibition on Public Safety and Security (Security China) 2023 held in Beijing on June 7-10.
The global CIS market revenue reached $19 billion in 2022, a year-on-year decrease of 7%, the first in the past ten years. The consumer electronics market declined while automotive applications maintained continuous growth, according to Counterpoint Research.
The consumer electronics market dominated by smartphones has gradually stabilized after rapid growth in the past few years, but it will still be the primary market of CIS. As consumers become more rational, manufacturers should focus on the original positioning of images in product design, Dong said.
Yole predicts that the security CIS market will grow from $2 billion in 2021 to $3.6 billion in 2027, with a compound growth rate of 10.8%. At the same time, automotive cameras are increasingly needed with the development of intelligent vehicles. Yole predicts that the automotive CIS market will grow from $1.7 billion in 2021 to $3.2 billion in 2027, with a compound growth rate of 11.2%.
CISTA has been deeply involved in the security field for many years and launched the first security product with BSI as early as 2016.
Facing the high growth of the automotive market, CISTA will launch a new product for car surround view or in-cabin monitoring in the second half of this year.
Founded in 2013 in the US, CISTA focuses on the design, development, testing, and marketing of CMOS image sensors (CIS). It set up its subsidiaries in Shenzhen and Shanghai in 2017 and 2019. Its products are widely used in mobile phones, security, vehicles, AIoT, and wearable devices.
