(JW Insights) Jun 25 -- SERES(赛力斯), a Chinese premium smart electric vehicle brand, has successfully made its entry into the European market with the first batch delivery of electric SUV SERES 5 vehicles. The delivery ceremony took place on June 21 in Bergen, Norway, according to the company.

The SUV is also equipped with an industry-leading permanent magnet motor. The SERES 5 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds thanks to its front and rear motor peak power (430KW) and peak torque of 960N.m.

To control acceleration and stabilize the vehicle, the chassis is mainly made of a strong, lightweight aluminum alloy. For a premium driving experience, a dual ball joint front double-wishbone front suspension enhances anti-roll performance, and a multi-link trapezoidal arm type rear independent suspension improves stability, said Business Wire.

The SERES 5 boasts an outstanding range. Its 80kWh lithium iron phosphate and 90 kWh semi-solid state high-performance batteries offer a significant power supply and high energy efficiency. Thus, on a single charge, the 2WD model can travel 500 km WLTP, and the 4WD can cover 530 km WLTP.

Additionally, the SERES 5 offers two variants: a pure electric version and a petrol engine version as a range extender, catering to the diverse needs of global users. The extended-range version combines both gasoline and electric power sources, delivering a comprehensive range of over 1,000 kilometers when fully fueled and charged, said the company.

SERES is an electric vehicle brand produced by Sokon Group in partnership with Chinese tech giant Huawei. In the past several years, its accumulated investment in R&D has exceeded RMB10 billion($1.39 billion), and the annual investment in R&D reached 10% of sales revenue. SERES currently has nearly 3,000 patented technologies and 25% R&D personnel, according to Pandaily.

Zhang Xinghai, the chairman and founder of SERES Group, is an influential public figure in China’s EV industry. He submitted four proposals on intelligent connected vehicles and new energy vehicles during China’s annual national session in March of this year.
