(JW Insights) Jun 25 -- China’s Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) Xin Guobin emphasized accelerating the R&D and promotion of key chips, high-precision sensors, and operating systems to further drive the growth of the country’s industry.

At a press briefing, Xin said it is necessary to construct the infrastructure of C-V2X, roadside sensing, and edge computing, as well as a cloud control basic platform based on edge cloud, regional cloud, and central cloud.

MIIT will launch pilot programs for intelligent connected vehicles to hit the road, and support the commercialization of conditional autonomous driving, specifically L3 and higher levels of autonomous driving functions, he added.

Earlier, MIIT said to improve the policy system and formulate supportive policies to accelerate the construction of charging and battery swapping facilities and the application of new energy vehicles in public areas.

“The global new energy vehicle industry has entered a new stage of accelerated development,” said Xin Guobin at the 2023 World Power Battery Conference on June 9. He added that MIIT will work together with relevant parties to promote power battery technology innovation, and jointly improve supply chain stability and green development.
