(JW Insights) Jun 28 -- Shanghai-based Fudan University, Alibaba Cloud and China Telecom have jointly launched the country’s largest cloud-based scientific research and intelligent computing platform for universities on June 27, JW Insights learned.
The new Computing for the Future at Fudan (CFFF) platform can provide supercomputing capabilities and support complex scientific research. Currently, all experimental equipment at Fudan can quickly access the CFFF platform.
Jin Li, president of Fudan University, said, “Fudan hopes to build a set of world-class scientific large models based on the CFFF platform, such as large models for life sciences, material sciences, atmospheric sciences, and integrated circuit design.”
In the future, CFFF will continue to expand its computing power and open up to research institutions, universities, hospitals, and high-tech enterprises outside of Fudan, he added.
CFFF consists of two parts, Jinsi HPC and Qiewen. Jinsi, deployed on Fudan's campus, is a dedicated high-performance computing cluster for high-precision research. Qiewen, hosted by Alibaba Cloud's data center in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, is an AI for Science intelligent computing cluster for multidisciplinary innovation, equipped with 100G fiber optic cables, according to Alibaba Cloud.
