(JW Insights) Jul 12 -- Luxshare Precision(立讯精密), China’s leading electronics manufacturing service provider, recently has established a global R&D center for autonomous driving in Suzhou of eastern China’s Jiangsu Province.
The center will be operated by BCS Automotive Interface Solutions(立胜汽车科技), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Luxshare Group located in the Suxiang Cooperation Zone in Suzhou Industrial Park.
With a planned total investment of approximately RMB523 million($72.7 million), the center aims to focus on the research and development of intelligent driving products, intelligent cockpit, and human-computer interaction. Its core projects include the vehicle central computing platform based on domestic chips, the lightweight smart cockpit system, and the high-performance millimeter-wave radar.
Luxshare aims to achieve a market share of over 15% in the autonomous driving sector within the next three years after the completion of the R&D center.
The center will engage in extensive cooperation with leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers, as well as global automakers in the intelligent electric vehicle and fossil fuel cars, according to the announcement by the Suzhou Industrial Park.
The company primarily produces automotive electronic switches, combination switches, complex switches, rain and light sensors, in-car wireless charging products for automobiles, and ADAS products for autonomous driving.
The announcement by the Suzhou Industrial Park indicates that BCS currently undertakes the research and development tasks for Luxshare’s automotive division’s key new products. It also handles the manufacturing and sales functions for nearly 60% of new products. Additionally, over the next two years, Luxshare’s research and development functions for innovative products will gradually be transferred to BCS.
