(JW Insights) Jul 26 -- Chinese chip design house C*Core Technology(国芯科技) announced it has successfully developed a new generation of electronics microcontroller unit(MCU) for vehicles, reported Yicai Global on July 25.

CCFC3008PT, the new MCU, recently passed C*Core Technology’s internal tests, the Suzhou-based company said late on July 24.

MCUs, also known as single-chip microcomputers, are chips that integrate the central processing unit, read-only memory, random-access memory, and various types of peripheral interfaces, particularly designed to control and perform specific tasks.

CCFC3008PT can be used in the electronics powertrain, chassis controller, and power battery controller and should help alleviate a shortage of mid-to-high-end MCUs in China’s new energy vehicle industry, C*Core Technology added.

The product will help the company expand in the auto electronics’ market and boost business performance, it said.

C*Core Technology has provided samples of CCFC3008PT to clients, and they have already started preliminary development and testing of related software and hardware products, according to the Yicai Global report.

Founded in Suzhou, eastern China’s Jiangsu Province, in 2001, C*Core Technology was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in January 2022. It focuses on high-end embedded CPUs and SoC chips as new choices for clients concerned with a more self-controllable supply chain. It applies the CPU core of the PowerPC architecture instruction system, which caters to the automotive ecosystem and gains more market share in the global mid-to-high-end automotive electronics, said the company.
