(JW Insights) Aug 16 -- EV manufacturer Tesla plans to assemble a local team of around 20 members to develop its Full Self-Driving (FSD) solution in the Chinese market, Chinese tech media outlet 36Kr reported recently.
One industry insider revealed, “Tesla has dispatched engineers from its headquarter for training.”
At the same time, Tesla also aims to establish a data labeling team in China, with a size of approximately hundreds of engineers. This initiative is geared towards preparing algorithms for FSD training.
In June this year, Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated on social media that Tesla is open to licensing FSD software and hardware to other car companies. “Tesla aspires to be as helpful as possible to other car companies. We made all our patents freely available several years ago. Now, we are enabling other companies to use our Supercharger network. Also happy to license Autopilot/FSD or other Tesla technology,” Musk tweeted.
Tesla China denied recent rumors that “Shanghai will be the first pilot city to open up for the full version of FSD.”
