(JW Insights) Aug 18 -- Taiwan-based IC designer Sunplus Technology serves the top four TV brands of the Chinese mainland in smart devices, and its OEM installation in automotive products is mainly for Chinese customers in local and international markets, said the company on August 16.
Sunplus's chairman and CEO Chou-Chye Huang told a company briefing that the company has invested in Chiplet technology many years ago, using 12 nm process. It recently launched the latest generation of C3 architecture, and received AI chip orders for use in sweeping robot with mass production scheduled in the third quarter.
The local demand for OEM installation in automotive products in China is quite weak, while the country's export demand is relatively optimistic, said the company. Last year, China's car exports reached 3 million units, expected to grow to 4 million, and some of its clients have already surpassed last year's annual shipments in the first half of the year.
Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Hsinchu, in the Taiwan region, Sunplus Technology is a leading provider of multimedia IC solutions for multimedia audio/video, single-chip microcontrollers, and digital signal processors.
In smart devices, Sunplus currently has a market share of 25%, and seven of the world's top ten speakers are its customers. Its 3D audio solutions cover mid-to-low-end products. As more e-sports products are developed, Its average selling price (ASP) continues to rise, it said.
