(JW Insights) Aug 28 -- South Korean wafer defect inspection tool manufacturer Nextin sealed a cooperative agreement with Wuxi High-Tech Zone and Wuxi Industrial Group to initiate establishing a high-end semiconductor testing and measurement equipment production and research center with a total investment of $200 million in Wuxi, eastern China’s Jiangsu Province.
The project focuses on advanced testing and measurement equipment for silicon wafers. It includes a technology research and development center to cultivate proprietary intellectual property, thereby enhancing the resilience and security of the industrial supply chain.
A local government official said that this signing would serve as a catalyst for further strengthening communication, collaboration, and financial support between Nextin and Wuxi. He emphasized the intent to propel more cutting-edge segments of the industry chain to move to Wuxi, a semiconductor cluster in China.
Nextin specializes in defect detection technology and metrology solutions. Nextin’s headquarters is in Dongtan, Hwasung, Korea, and its Software Development Center is in the Technical Golden Triangle in Israel to provide high-quality solutions and technical support to its global customers, according to the company.
