(JW Insights) Sep 1 -- China's integrated circuits (IC) production output decreased by 3.9% to 191.2 billion units in the first seven months of 2023, according to data released recently by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
During the same period, the electronics and IT manufacturing sector above the designated size experienced a year-on-year increase of 0.1% in added value.
Among the main products, mobile phone production in the first seven months decreased by 1.6% year on year to 810 million units, with smartphones of 593 million units, marking a 7.9% year-on-year decline. Meanwhile, microcomputer equipment saw a 24.4% drop in production to 189 million units.
China's IC exports totaled 151.7 billion units in the first seven months, down 8.3% year-on-year. The export delivery value of the electronic information manufacturing sector above the designated size decreased by 8.3% year-on-year during the time.
Exports of laptops reached 80.32 million units, a year-on-year decline of 23.1% in the first seven months. The country's mobile phone exports also decreased by 11.8% year-on-year to 414 million units, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).
