(JW Insights) Sep 27 -- Chinese tech giant Baidu released its first large model in the field of quantum at the 2023 Quantum Industry Conference held in Hefei, eastern China’s Anhui Province on September 23-24.

Duan Runyao, director of Baidu Institute for Quantum Computing, said that the quantum large model is built based on the company’s Ernie Bot and trained and optimized with high-quality data in the quantum field. It enables a better understanding of quantum knowledge and efficient execution of quantum tasks.

The quantum large model aims to accelerate the deep integration of quantum technology and large models across the entire technology stack, including chip, framework, model, and application, leveraging the dual advantages of the Baidu Quantum Platform and the Ernie Bot.

Baidu Quantum Platform has undergone continuous large-scale updates over the past year, with new features released in the fields of financial technology, optical quantum, and quantum chips, said the company.

Duan also presented the latest achievements in Baidu's quantum software, hardware, and solutions, as well as two major AI applications, Baidu Quantum Assistant and Quantum Writing Assistant.

Baidu Quantum Assistant relies on Baidu's quantum knowledge base and a knowledge-enhanced Ernie Bot, which was trained on 78 million raw data and 220,000 fine-tuned data.

The Quantum Writing Assistant can achieve accurate and efficient output of quantum knowledge and technology, reducing the learning threshold and improving the efficiency of quantum computing research. With just six variables inputted, the Quantum Writing Assistant can write a 13,000-character patent document in five minutes, according to Baidu.
