(JW Insights) Oct 7 -- AITO, a brand co-developed by Chinese tech conglomerate Huawei and EV maker Seres, set a new single-day pre-order record with its newly-launched SUV M7 model during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday and the cumulative number of orders has exceeded 40,000 since its official launch on September 12, reported TechWeb.
The latest data indicates that on October 5, the M7 achieved a historic high with 3,500 pre-orders in a single day, according to AITO.
The M7 is equipped with the Huawei ADS 2.0 advanced intelligent driving system, capable of high-speed and urban intelligent driving without relying on high-precision maps. By December, the model will be capable of navigation-assisted driving in all Chinese cities.
The new M7 comes with Huawei's HarmonyOS, and the system will perform as smoothly on the vehicle as the Mate 60 Pro phone, Richard Yu, head of Huawei's automotive business, said.
The new car comes with one top-mounted LiDAR, three millimeter-wave radars, 11 high-definition visual perception cameras, and 12 ultrasonic radars, totaling 27 perception hardware components. It supports valet parking and parking in extremely narrow spaces.
Yu previously stated that RMB500 million($68 million) was invested in the research and development of this new vehicle, and the production line underwent significant improvements, including substantial reconstruction. The M7 is available in 5 different configurations, with prices ranging from RMB249,800 to 329,800($34,212 to 45,169).
