MIIT: China's IC output declines by 1.4% in January-August to 221.4 billion units

(JW Insights) Oct 7 -- China's integrated circuit output reached 221.4 billion units, a year-on-year decrease of 1.4%, showed data released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on October 4.

China's IC exports amounted to 175.6 billion units, a decrease of 6.2% compared to the same period last year.

From January to August, China's electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size increased by 0.9% in added value over the last year. In August, the value added of the electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size increased by 5.8% from a year earlier.

Among the main products, mobile phone production was 935 million units in January-August, down 0.9% year-on-year, including 679 million units of smartphones, marking a 7.5% decrease. The production of microcomputer equipment saw a 21.7% drop, reaching 220 million units.

The export delivery value of the electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size decreased by 8% in January-August and by 5.5% in August alone.

China exported 92.68 million units of laptops from January to August, a decrease of 21.7% year-on-year, and 478 million units of mobile phones, dropping 10.9% year-on-year, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).

In terms of profitability, the operating revenue of the electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size reached RMB9.21 trillion ($1.26 trillion) from January to August, down 3.5% over the previous year. The total profit reached RMB354.7 billion ($48.58 billion), a 20.6% drop, said MIIT.
