(JW Insights) Oct 11 -- Chinese auto manufacturer GAC Group sold 243,599 vehicles in September, a year-on-year increase of 2.71%. Its new energy vehicle (NEV) sales reached 57,973 units, a notable year-on-year increase of 70.36%, according to the company's September 2023 production and sales report.
In the same month, GAC Group produced 242,136 vehicles, marking a 6.17% increase year-on-year. However, their year-to-date production of 1,804,205 vehicles reflects a decrease of 1.55%. Year-to-date sales totaled 1,794,264 vehicles, a 1.69% decline compared to the previous year.
In September, GAC Group manufactured 58,832 NEVs, a substantial year-on-year increase of 72.38%. Year-to-date NEV production stood at 403,453 units, indicating a remarkable growth of 96.24%. Its total NEV sales for the year reached 393,912 units, showing a robust growth rate of 92.27%.
GAC Aion, a subsidiary brand under GAC Group, has become a trailblazer in the new energy vehicle segment. In September, it produced 56,248 NEVs, and their year-to-date production reached 357,478 units, reflecting an impressive growth of 96% compared to the previous year. September sales of GAC Aion NEVs amounted to 51,596 units, and their year-to-date sales reached 350,986 units, marking substantial year-on-year increases of 92.51%.
GAC Aion is trying to enter the Thai market, continuing its expansion into Southeast Asia and neighboring regions. It aims at achieving a global development layout and contributing to making Chinese new energy brands leaders on a global scale, according to GAC Group.
