(JW Insights) Oct 16 -- Initiated by Alibaba Cloud, Huawei and other major Chinese AI players, the China Cyberspace Security Association(CCSA) set up the Professional Committee for Artificial Intelligence (AI) Security Governance on October 12 in Beijing , according to CCSA.
The first batch of members for the committee consists of a total of 58 organizations, including universities, research institutions, and other AI companies.
Other founding members of the the AI regulation committee include the National Internet Emergency Response Center, the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence(BAAI), the Shanghai AI Laboratory,, and Kingsoft Office.
The committee’s mission is “to facilitate technical innovation, industrial collaboration, outcome transformation, and industry self-discipline among AI-related academic, research, and corporate entities,” said CCSA.
The committee aims to enhance AI security governance capabilities in various aspects, including large language model security, content security, data security, privacy protection, and intellectual property rights protection. It also seeks to establish novel comprehensive governance models for AI security and provide essential support for the healthy development of China's AI industry.
Lu Wei, the vice director of the National Internet Emergency Response Center, was elected the first chairman of the professional committee. Huang Tiejun, the president of the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence, and Qiao Yu, the assistant director of the Shanghai AI Laboratory, were appointed as vice chairman.
Wang Jianbing, deputy secretary-general of the China Cyberspace Security Association, was nominated as the secretary-general of the committee.
