MIIT: China’s IC output decreases by 2.5% to 244.7 billion units in first three quarters

(JW Insights) Oct 30 -- China's IC output reached 244.7 billion units in the first three quarters of this year, a 2.5% year-on-year decrease, according to the data released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on October 30.

During the same period, the value added of the electronic information manufacturing industry above the designated size increased by 1.4% over the last year.

From January to September, China's mobile phone production reached 1.094 billion units, an increase of 0.8% year on year. The production of smartphones decreased by 6.1% to 792 million units. The output of microcomputers reached 253 million units, showing a significant drop of 21.1% from a year earlier.

In exports, China exported 199.9 billion ICs in the first three quarters, a decrease of 5.1% compared to the same period last year. The export of laptops reached 106.11 million units, a decrease of 19% year on year, while the export of mobile phones totaled 561 million units, down 8.5% year on year, according to the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).
