(JW Insights) June 12 -- H3C Technologies (新华三), one of China's leading digital solution providers, has launched its LinSeer large-scale model to help governments and businesses with their intelligent transformation ambitions, Yicai Global reported on June 13.
Yu Yingtao, H3C chief executive, said “LinSeer uses customers' private data to train artificial intelligence to solve industry development and regional governance issues. The data will be proprietary to customers and will not be disclosed to meet privacy requirements.”
H3C's launch of LinSeer aims to leverage AI's generative capabilities and combine them with customers' industry characteristics while ensuring data security, senior vice president Chen Ziyun told Yicai Global.
To improve efficiency, H3C has applied AI technology in many areas, such as using it in the human resource department to answer employees' questions, Chen noted, adding that this combines general models and internal data, which makes it necessary to ensure that staff data is not leaked.
Hangzhou-based H3C also released a series of AI technology-supporting software and hardware products at firm's NAVIGATE conference in Hangzhou on June 9, including the UniServer R5500 G6 server dedicated to AI large-scale model training.
The UniServer, which will be available in bulk early next month, uses Nvidia's H800 graphics processing unit, which has three times more computing power than the previous generation of products, shortening the time for large-scale model training by 70 percent, Yu pointed out.
H3C will continue to upgrade its information and communication technologies infrastructure to meet customers' needs for developing and using AI-generated content, including sufficient computing power, high-quality network connectivity, and efficient data parallel processing capabilities, said co-president and chief technology officer You Xuejun.
Unisplendour, a Chinese supplier of IT infrastructure products and services, acquired 51 percent of H3C in May 2016 and announced a plan to purchase the rest from US information technology giant Hewlett Packard for $3.5 billion on May 26.
H3C’s net profit rose 8.7 percent to RMB3.7 billion ($519 million) last year, while revenue jumped 12.3 percent to RMB49.8 billion ($7 billion), according to an earnings report released by Beijing-based Unisplendour, said the Yicai Global report.
