(JW Insights) Jun 25 -- Chinese IGBT supplier Luxin Semiconductor (陆芯) released its second generation IGBT products at a product launch event in Shanghai on June 16.
The new products Luxin Gen2 and Gen3 demonstrate improved performance from their first generation; The Gen2 IGBT chip is based on 12-inch wafer production lines and has been finalized for mass production; It is qualified with AEC-Q101 certification.
Founded in May 2017 in Shanghai, Luxin Semiconductor focuses on the R&D, production, and sales of the latest generation of power semiconductors.
According to Zhang Jie, Luxin’s general manager, the company’s technical team has many years of experience in IGBT development. Its latest products are comparable to Infineon's latest 7th-generation microgroove TrenchFS technology. It has applied for nearly 100 IP patents. It also has an IGBT module packaging line.
Although the global semiconductor industry is in a sluggish downturn, a few areas, such as IGBT, are still in short supply. With prolonged delivery dates and tight production capacity of some international giants like Infineon and STMicroelectronics, Chinese IGBT suppliers are gaining new opportunities. They also benefit from growing applications in China - new energy vehicles, rail transit, smart grid, and other domestic substitution areas.
