(JW Insights) Oct 27 -- China’s new generation 8-channel electroencephalogram(EEG) signal acquisition chip, specialized for brain-computer interfaces, has been successfully developed in north China’s Tianjin, according to a recent report from local media outlet Tianjin Daily.

The chip is a joint effort by the Brain-Machine Interaction and Human-Machine Fusion Haihe Laboratory and China Electronics Corporation(CEC). It features a more advanced topological structure compared to its predecessor. Fully compatible with commonly used commercial chips, the new chip supports daisy-chain expansion and dual-power supply configurations, further enhancing user experience.

The research team at the Brain-Machine Haihe Lab, in collaboration with CEC, focuses on the development of dedicated chips for brain-computer interfaces (BCI) and has previously released the "BrainTalker" series of highly integrated chips.

Among these, the "BrainTalker" C series is the first domestically produced BCI decoding and calculation chip, primarily used for EEG signal analysis and accelerated computation. The "BrainTalker" D series is the first domestic 8-channel 24-bit analog-to-digital conversion chip designed specifically for the collection of neurophysiological signals.

Sui Shi Intelligent Technology(燧世智能科技), is an enterprise incubated by the Brain-Machine Haihe Lab, aimed at translating innovative achievements into practical applications. They are currently in negotiations with several top-tier hospitals, research institutions and medical device companies.

Upon successful sample production of the chip, it will be formally applied to self-developed EEG acquisition modules and wearable portable devices. The project will contribute to various civil and specialized applications for brain-machine interfaces, and expediting the transformation and promotion of subsequent products, reported Tianjin Daily.
